Anxiety and Panic Attacks begin In-mind, often looping automatic and habitual visual thought patterns.
The fact is Anxiety and Panic Attacks are vivid, imaginative dis-orders that are unresourceful. I believe that in order to overcome anxiety and panic attacks one needs to actually approach these on the level of thought; Vividly In-mind.
Often people find themselves dependent on scheduled medication in order to be able to function free of anxiety and panic. The truth is however, this is NOT actually the way to crush anxiety attacks and panic attacks. Medications never actually free us.
Let the Programming Begin
As children we absorb the world like a sponge does water. Our first in-fluences are likely to be our parents, extended family and teachers. If our parents are critical, undermining or abusive then this will have an effect on how we see ourselves and our world. How they communicate with us and to us in these early years is essential to how we view ourselves and our place in the world.
Now most often I am one to focus on solutions, but here’s my experience of how an anxiety can develop through early negative in-fluence.
Nothing heavy, just an old story
I had a 4rd grade primary school math teacher who was, sarcastic and belittling to me. He would stand me in front of the class when I didn’t understand the given math problem and say “Class, this is another episode of ‘Eli’s Dilemma’! This had a profound impact on how I viewed myself and my belief in my ability to do mathematics, stand in front of groups and be accepted amongst my peers. Terrible pictures! And believe me they weren’t black and white stills!
I feel confident that my teachers intent wasn’t to program in me, math anxiety, public speaking anxiety, social anxiety and probably a host of other quirks from the public humiliation. So with that belief… I forgive him.
Learnings?
So what have you as a child – perhaps now a teenager, or adult – “learned” about yourself from the authority figures in your life, past and present? My teacher programmed in me an internal story with sarcasm, intolerance and bullying. This is often a common story, happening everyday. Perhaps a familiar story to you…….. I don’t know.
So what did your old story offer to you, what habitual visual thought patterns developed? what loops in-mind?
Imagine that!
Earlier in this post I wrote that Anxiety and Panic Attacks are vivid, imaginative dis-orders that are unresourceful.
Here is something interesting to know:
The unconscious (subconscious) mind cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined!
So what if you BEGIN NOW TO USE YOUR ABILITY TO VIVIDLY IMAGINE… resourceful, creative, fantastic, intelligently inventive original constructs? Beautiful and compelling. Yes!
And I wonder if YOU CAN IMAGINE where it starts….
